All participants registered for the FULL CONFERENCE will have to possibility to join one of these excursions.

Please note there is a limited no of 50 participants on each field trip.

Field trip 1: 08:30-17:00 - Cereals

The theme of the day is cereals.

 

First stop of the fieldtrip will be at Lars Egelund Olsen. He is an organic farmer and will tell us about organic quality cereals at his farm. Lars Egelund Olsen is co-founder of Sall Whisky, which is a Danish distillery specialized in production of organic whisky.

 

The last stop will be at The House of Cereals, which is Denmark’s new center for knowledge and inspiration about grain, nutrition and food culture. The founder of The House of Cereals is Jørn Ussing. He will provide you with an insight into the history of cereals.

 

The trip offers a possibility for drop-off at Aalborg Airport 15:30.

 

The bus will return to Kalø Organic Agricultural College at 17:00.

Field trip 2: 08:30-14:30 - Cereals preservation and farm visit

Field visit at Agrologica by Anders Borgen.

 

The next stop will be at Stenalt Estate, which has an untraditional livestock farm with app. 450 male fawns and 700 goats for milk production. They have 600 ha of cereal production and use very modern equipment in their production.

 

The trip offers a possibility for drop-off at Aarhus Airport 14:00.

 

The bus will return to Kalø Organic Agricultural College at 14:30.

Field trip 3: 07:45-15:30 - A journey from grain to product

The fieldtrip’s first stop will be at Mørdrupgård. Per Grupe will tell us about organic cereal production and a selection of heritage varieties and organic milling. The organic farmer Per Grupe has managed the farm organically since 1982. For more than thirty years, the farm has had an intensive cultivation of different cereal varieties. In the last ten years, the focus has been different varieties with good baking quality. The dream and goal at Mørdrupgård, is to produce the best organic flour.

 

When we arrive in Copenhagen you will meet your guide Nanna Ytting, who will take care of you the rest of the trip.

In Copenhagen you will visit Meyers House of Food. In Meyers House of Food, food-lovers of all ages will have the opportunity to learn how to bake the most wonderful breads and cakes. We explore the adventurous Nordic cuisine and become familiar with some of the world’s greatest cuisine.

 

At 15.30, you will have the opportunity to go to the airport or continue with Nanna to Copenhagen Street Food.

Here there will be food from all over the world.

 

The last stop will be at Christiania. Freetown. Christiania is Copenhagen’s alternative neighborhood. Christiania is a mix of homemade houses, workshops, art galleries, music venues, cheap and organic eateries, and beautiful nature. It is a society within a society.

 

The fieldtrip ends here at 18:30.

Field trip 4: 08:30-16:45 - Products made from cereals

The day will be about different products made from cereals.

 

The first stop will be at Fary Lochan Distillery. The distillery started in 2009. The dream was to produce a Danish whisky, which was unique in flavor and quality. The unique flavor stems from smoked nettles. Now the distillery is producing whiskey, gin, liqueur and aquavit. You will hear about heritage wheat and barley for whisky.

 

The next stop will be at Dalby Mill. Dalby Mill is a modern company within food production. The Mill is specialized in processing different cereals into products such as oatmeal and gluten-free varieties. You will hear about different oat products.

 

The trip offers a possibility for drop-off at Billund Airport 15:00.

 

The bus will return to Kalø Organic Agricultural College at 16:45.

Field trip 5: 08:30-14:30 - Fieldtrip in National Nature Park

The fieldtrip will take place a few miles from the location of the Cereal Festival at Mols National Park. The park is one of Denmark’s five national parks. The park is special in both landscape, nature and cultural history. The landscape is an ice age landscape created by the movement of the ice through time. Now the national park has sheep, cattle and horses to graze the area. The animals are a part of nature management of the area. The park has varied nature and contains different rare species of insects, plants and reptiles.

 

The whole day will take place in some of Denmark’s most special nature.

The bus will return to Kalø Organic Agricultural College at 14:30.
